Our Story
A journey of scientific discovery
that transforms forest treasures into agricultural innovation
FOUNDING STORY
A conviction
Forests hold unexplored biological treasures in wild fungi that have evolved defensive molecules over millions of years to survive and thrive, natural defenses that can contribute to bringing new solutions to crop protection.
A pioneering choice
While the biocontrol industry focused on bacteria, and other micro-organisms including some fungi, MYCEA became the first to systematically explore forest fungi, unlocking novel extracts and modes of action from an untapped branch of the fungi kingdom. Seven years later, we remain practically alone in this space, with a decisive head start in both knowledge and industrial maturity.
COMPANY TIMELINE
Ready to unveil platform after 7 years in stealth mode.
Pipeline ready for 2nd year of field trials and preparation of regulatory filings.
Two candidates emerge from validation demonstrating exceptional broad-spectrum efficacy at low doses, approaching market targets, pass toxicity tests.
Commercial Spin-off: Amoterra
Platform generates 5 leads meeting lead validation prerequisites.
First year of field trials demonstrates promising results across multiple disease targets.
Two entrepreneurs join as individual investors (2020), then formalize through their investment firm Vol-V (2022), pledging 8 M€.
Vol-V takes Chairman role, establishing true strategic partnership.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS
Unique Expertise
According to leading biocontrol market analysts, MYCEA is the only company they know of with this level of specific expertise on wild forest fungi, a positioning that is highly strategic, as industrial players actively seek biotech companies exploring branches of kingdoms to unlock novel extracts and modes of action.
MYCEA’s seven-year head start represents a considerable competitive advantage in both knowledge accumulation and industrial maturity.
Building Execution Capabilities
We recognize that unique expertise alone does not win markets. MYCEA has systematically built the foundations for commercial success: reducing discovery timelines from 4 to 2 years through continuous discovery phase optimization, integrating economic viability from the start—our screening methodology evaluates not only efficacy and safety, but also productivity and scalability.
Multi-site field trials with industrial partners ensure our molecules approach regulatory filing with compelling production economics validated upfront.
Commercial Spin-off
The company has also proven its ability to transform research into commercial solutions:
in 2025, Amoterra (soil biodiversity regeneration service) became an independent entity, freeing all resources to focus exclusively on biocontrol for international markets.

WHAT SETS US APART
Technology-Enabled, Nature-Inspired
We leverage modern tools like Machine Learning and Predictive Modeling to accelerate discovery, but nature’s intelligence remains our guide. Technology amplifies our capabilities without replacing our core philosophy.
From Laboratory to Field
Our platform doesn’t stop at discovery. We’ve proven our ability to take promising extracts from initial screening through field validation, and partner with industry leaders to validate commercial readiness.
Systematic Approach to Biodiversity
Most companies explore fungi opportunistically. We’ve built the infrastructure to explore them systematically, creating a repeatable discovery process that can generate value for decades.
Humility and Realism
We don’t claim to revolutionize agriculture overnight. We’re contributing one crucial piece to the complex puzzle of sustainable crop protection, working in partnership with others who share our vision of agricultural transformation.
LOOKING FORWARD
Founded by PhD scientists with deep expertise in fungus physiology and agronomy, MYCEA has built a proprietary platform for agricultural innovation. We're exploring a distinct branch of fungi using state-of-the-art technology to systematically unlock their potential. We're not just discovering molecules; we're building a sustainable way to continuously access nature's solutions for agriculture's evolving challenges.
Our story is just beginning. With our proven platform, validated approach, and growing pipeline of promising candidates, we're positioned to contribute meaningfully to agriculture's sustainable future—one fungal solution at a time.
